When Looking for Books to Read- Part 3

Today, we're back with some more book suggestions! A few weeks ago, I posted Part-1 and Part-2 of some of my favorite books for when you can't find any to read. We've been exploring the realm of fantasy for a while, so I'm going to add a few non-fiction works as well.

Firstly, we'll start with a fictional romance: The Siren by Kiera Cass. I was drawn to this book because of my love for ocean stories, but this was unlike anything I had ever read before.
Kahlen was turned into Siren by the Ocean, bound to serve Her until her time was up. After that, she was free to live her life again. Everything goes well until she meets Akinli- after which she risks everything, including their lives, for their future. The Siren twists myths into stories you'd believe until the end time, along with visualizations beyond imagination.

Next, The Land of Stories series by Chris Colfer. This series paved way for a lot of the thoughts I believe in now.
It made me believe all the fantasies I had read and watched were real.
It changed the way I looked at life.
Alex and Connor Bailey were twins who grew up with fairy tales. They lived their lives with their heads in stories, but had to face harsh reality after their life took a turn. Everything they knew changed after they were gifted a mysterious book by their grandmother- one that teleported them to a different realm. After finding out that the new world was none other than home to the characters of the stories they read growing up, the two realize an adventure is about to begin.

For the first non-fiction book of this series, we have Spineless by Juli Berwald. It is an informative novel about jellyfish and the phylum Cnidaria. It explains anything anyone would ever need to know about the floating jellies. The language is well-written and fluid, such that the entirety of the book feels like a journey. Spineless evoked my love for the creatures, and I am sure it will do the same for you. Even if you aren't particularly interested in concepts such as this one, it is still a must-read. It is full of inspiration, and will help you develop a passion for something that wasn't there before.

Finally, the last novel for today is The Soul of an Octopus by Sy Montgomery. Ironically, I found this book on the back of Spineless, as Sy Montgomery had reviewed the book as well. This made me curious to read her own book, and it was a decision I didn't regret. The book tells stories of the amazing cephalopods; the emotions they feel, the lives they live, the thoughts they think and so much more. It tells her story of how she connected with octopuses, how they made her feel emotions she never thought she was capable of. Worded with love, this book is perfect for those anyone, lover of the sea or not.

Again, we meet the end of this list- but only temporarily. I'll be back with more books to read soon!
Happy reading!
