World Environment Day

Today, June the fifth, is Environment Day, a day to acknowledge the home our planet provided us with. We humans tend to disrespect our environment sometimes, coating it with filth, taking away resources for our own benefit, killing innocent creatures for no purpose whatsoever...
Environment Day is a day to start rectifying these mistakes, and even taking it further by doing more for our world. We can go big and plant a tree, or even just start following the three R's: Reduce, reuse and recycle. Whatever it may be, the Earth will thank you for it.
Perhaps you have the habit of littering; maybe today you could vow to stop. Maybe you have a big garden; consider making it bigger and healthier by using your biodegradable waste as compost. Do you have an overload of plastic bags? Maybe take them to the grocery store instead of getting new ones!
There is so much we can do for our planet, all we need is the effort. By just going five minutes out of your way to keep the environment clean, you make a difference.
Not a big one, but a difference all the same.
Imagine if every human on Earth took this effort every day. It would make our lives so much easier.
If every human on Earth at least tried to keep our Earth clean, it too would make a difference.
Not a tiny, insignificant difference.
A huge one.
A difference our Earth needs for us all.
So don't be the one who says, "Why should I go out of my way? Everyone else does it, so it won't matter if I don't.", because everyone says that. Everyone claims they don't harm the Earth at all, and look where we are now. Polluted air, littered ground, stumps of once mighty forest... All because we said one tiny action would be nothing in the long run.
We do not own this Earth; it has been kind enough to give us a home. If evolution wanted us dead, we would be long gone by now. So why are we still here? Because we have to fix this mess. Leaving it on its own would take thousands, if not millions, of years to erode. We have the potential to fix it in just a few.
If our joint actions messed up our home, then our joint actions can fix it too.
Who knows? It could all start with YOU.
