Back to School!

It's that time of the year again- when you sadly bid farewell to the summer and welcome back the days of books, friends, and exams. While vacation was filled with beaches, trips and fun, going back to school is a different kind of thrill. New friends, new year, new teachers, for some even new school... it's all so overwhelming at first.
School marks the beginning of new: leaving behind the bad of the year before, and using the good as a foundation to soar higher. Whether you like to shoot above the moon or settle amongst the stars, there are some tips anyone can follow when it comes to classes.
First, never complain. I know, you would rather lounge all day in your house doing nothing than study intensely for hours on end, but school brings you things vacation can't. It brings you the gift of education, an opportunity to make friends. a chance to find new hobbies, and of course to rediscover yourself in a way you couldn't on break. School puts your brain to work, and allows you to find your strengths and weaknesses and build upon them. For those not sure about your future, school helps you decide what you want to be; and for those who have fixed ambitions, school allows you to work towards them. So even though it may not be your most favorite time of the year, finding a benefit of school that you relate to can get you excited for the school year; and when you do something whilst enjoying it, you automatically do it better.
Secondly, set expectations for yourself. They don't have to be above and beyond, just what you feel is right. You don't need to stress yourself over everyone else's expectations of your performance. You go to school for your education, not to impress people. Do what you feel is right, and always try your best. If you focus on your needs and not others', you will excel with flying colors.
No one knows your goals better than you do, so feel free to go for what you love. After all, school is the preliminary step to your future, and your future determines the rest of your life. Who do you want to be years from now? It's fine if you don't know; your effort is more than enough.
This isn't to say don't try hard. While your expectations are in only your hands, don't settle for less than your capabilities. If you know you can do better at a class, then try your best at it. If you're satisfied, but want to aim higher, then go for it.
Just always remember, school paves your way into the world; gives you a pedestal to earn your spotlight. If you try your hardest, be true to yourself, and have fun doing it, you can be anything you please, and do anything you want to do.

School is in session, meaning buses are on the road for the school year. Drivers should exercise caution when traveling in proximity to school zones and school buses. Georgia law requires vehicles traveling in both directions to stop when a school bus is loading or unloading children. School buses display red stop lights and a stop arm to let traffic know to stop and watch for children. The driver may proceed only when the school bus resumes movement or when the flashing lights are no longer activated. (U.S. Air Force photo illustration by Airman 1st Class Kathleen D. Bryant)
