Exploring Coral Reefs

The water glistens above, sunlight radiating, reflecting off the gentle yet playful waves that thrash onto the surface. The sunrays refract into the crystal clear ocean, letting every minuscule creature display their prominence. A slight greenish hue can be seen as plankton make their way across the scenery, inviting any nearby fish in for a treat. But the real beauty is down below. An explosion of colors, all glimmering, shining, glowing, magnifying every drop of light to sparkle like a disco ball. Bright red hard corals, Neon pink soft corals, Dark orange brain corals, Fluorescent yellow sea fans- all united by the golden sand on which they all grow. Every grain works together to create a soft blanket to nourish such diverse and dramatic culture. Every nook and cranny has an essence of life.
In the rocky caverns lies the eel, stealthily awaiting his prey, his large eyes sensing every movement nearby. In the stinging anemones lies the clownfish, protected in a way other fish could only dream of. Amongst the seaweed lie the seahorses, drifting dreamily from leaf to leaf, searching for a soulmate. Under the seafloor lies the stingray, gracefully attacking at any unfortunate being who comes too close. In the sponge lie the shrimps, munching at any debris that happens to float by. Between all the coral lie the fish, up and about, trying to eat or trying not to be eaten. Above the corals roam the sharks, patrolling the reef for any intruder with their toe out of line.
All is well in this delightful city, and as the moon rises, it is time for the coral to be bursting with life. Little specks of luminescence glow proudly, flashing their colors for all to see. They do not take those who try to steal their spotlight lightly, and challenge them to a battle. These little polyps grow every day, each intending to dominate, and before you know it, millennia have gone by, and a reef is born.
